Our goal is to form students to be interested in, and capable of, reading the great literature of the West with enjoyment and understanding. The first step is to help them appreciate story and language artistically—so we begin with authors such as Rider Haggard, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dickens, and Stevenson. From there, we move to deeper and more demanding authors, such as Rostand, Hawthorne, O’Connor, Wilde, and Chesterton. Eventually we reach the heights of the canon—Homer, Shakespeare, and Dante. Along the way, students encounter the great poems of the Western tradition and  learn how to scan, read, recite, & compose poetry.
